Good DVD copy software

Postby mark hansen » Mon May 18, 2009 10:23 pm

I'm in a bit of a bind and need to get some DVD copying software. A customer says the DVDs I gave him are blank and, now, I can't dispute that, not until I get them back. (I don't think the are because I test about 1 out of 3 when I burn them and the master looks blank because its full - 1 hour of video - but play fine of course)

anyway, I know its probably here, but looking for some suggestions - I want to copy with something different, I used Nero 9 to burn the others, and just incase, I want to make the second batch with something else. I'd like something that burn with one DVD burner easily (automatically drop the information to a folder and just burn copy after copy).

Sorry for not doing a diligent search, I'm a little ticked and just want to get it over with.

Thanks for any help.

I use this:-

....but I am certain that others will chip in with free or lower cost solutions. :-D

EDIT: Not on my normal PC so can't determine whether ImgBurn will allow DVD copying.
AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.

I use ImgBurn:

I've been using it for a couple of years now and not a single coaster.

Edit: ...oh and it's free.

It can certainly read and create a disc-based image from a DVD which you can then write.

I'll cast another vote for ImgBurn. It works fine for me, and I even enjoy the "error messages."

I've been known to do things wrong, just to read those messages...

You said you use Nero 9, I'm still on Nero 6, BUT I doubt it was Nero that "failed". I'm sure Nero burnt the image on those discs. The problem is one of two things; either bad discs or an incompatible DVD player. If you get them back from the client and you can read them, it's probably an incompatible DVD player. If not, burn the DVDs at a slower write speed, that makes them more reliable.

There is also Ashampoo Burning Studio 6... this is an older version that they are giving away free.
