Encore CS3 experience...

Postby jackfalbey » Sun Oct 28, 2007 3:31 pm

After getting used to loooong DVD burn times in PrEl3, and reading all sorts of suggestions about encoding to a folder and then using another DVD burning utility, I am pleasantly surprised to say that I am getting great results with Encore CS3. I just burned ("built") a project with motion menus and sub-chapters with just over an hour of NTSC video & 48k stereo audio, and it took about 8 minutes!!! And it plays perfectly on my 6-year-old off-brand Wal-Mart-special DVD player, too. \:D/

Yes, Encore works great, however, in some ways I miss the simplicity of setting up menus in Elements. I wish there was a little more automation to setting up the menus in Encore. How did you set up your menu? Did you do any customization?

My twopennyworth on this:-

I have recently started using Encore CS3 (I used to use Encore v2).

The CS3 version does seem to be faster than Encore v2 but that could be down to the fact that I am doing different projects in CS3 (what I mean is that I haven't repeated a v2 project in CS3 to see if the apparent increase in production speed is real or illusionary).

Generally speaking, for menus in Encore, I build my own from the menu and button libraries that are provided, using a still shot to replace the menu background, rather than go for a 'from the ground up bespoke build' starting in Photoshop.

You can encode and burn an hour project in Encore CS3 in eight minutes?
