How do I output an NTSC project as PAL?

Postby Peru » Sun Nov 25, 2012 3:05 pm

I created a video for our High School swim team in Premiere pro CS5.5, exported NTSC Widescreen Progressive to Adobe Media Encoder, and authored with DVDAS 4.5.

I made and burned an .iso to DVDs using NTSC settings. All is fine.

I need to make a PAL version for a team member who is an exchange student from Hungary.

Do I just use DVDAS to make a PAL .iso? If so, do I use PAL Widescreen 720 X 576 or 704 X 576?
Or do I export a PAL version with AME and then make an .iso from DVDAS?

Can I burn a PAL .iso on my burner, or will it likely only burn to NTSC standards?
How can I test the DVD after I burn it? Will a NTSC player play PAL at all?

I guess that's enough questions for one post. :conf:

Usually the smartest move is to just give your Hungarian friend an NTSC DVD. Virtually all European DVD players can play both PAL and NTSC discs.

Otherwise, converting to PAL is possible but rarely completely successful, since you're going to a different frame size and a different frame rate.
