text melting

Postby momoffduty » Thu Jul 05, 2007 1:39 pm

How do you make a title text look like it is melting or paint that runs down the screen?

Cool challenge, Cheryl!

Without using frame by frame animation, there must be a way to use a wipe and some modifications to at least come close to the effect you want. (I saw somebody to a really cool dripping blood wipe with Premiere Elements for a spoof of the James Bond opening.)

Cheryl, this is a great piece of inexpensive software, that I think you will find amazing. I have owned it for several years and upgrades are free.

This is my attempt

With this being the .prel file.

Always like a challenge ;)

The trick is to keyframe the motion to keep one part (the top) of the text being deformed by wavewarp stationary.

Wow, great job Chris. Just what i was looking for. Thanks.

Clay, loved the title software. Not a bad price either. Is it hard to use?

If you can learn Preimere, then this is a piece of cake. I think they have trial downloads.

I will check for the free download. The example of 'Hairy title' was a little creepy.

Wow Chris... talk about meeting the challenge!
Chris B wrote:Always like a challenge ;) Chris

Here's a challenge:

I like to use a theme with all printed media for each individual client. The text effects in PrEl 3 are fantastic! I can screen capture text to print onto the insert for the jewel case but cannot figure out how to use the same text in an arc to print on the face of the DVD itself.

Steve offered help here: But I still haven't figured out how to arc in PrEl

Clay, the price of the blufftitler is not in US Dollars, can anyone here convert the price for those of us who might be interested in purchasing after the trial download. Also, does the trial leave a "watermark"?

Cinde, I see on the site that the price is $50 (I paid about $40 several years ago). I also downloaded the latest version (that a good thing, they are always free). :-D I believe it has a "demo" watermark :(

Hmm.

No so easy. What you really want is a "path" for the text to follow. (This would actually be a really cool effect -especially if you could keyframe the paths. Some suggestions - none of which is particularly satisfactory.

1) Make a title - draw a circle on it and use this as a guide to rotate each of the individual letters around the edge. Lots of work - but will probably look the best.

2) Polar Coordinates - either at 50% or at 100%. 100% with the text in the middle of the screen. 50% at the bottom. (Use Rect to Polar)

3) Lens distort also sort of works. (fiddle with the settings).

4) Don't put curves on DVDs. (Look at commercial DVDs - they don't tend to do that) :-D
