Photo Frames

Postby Bobby » Sun Jun 21, 2009 6:48 am

What software do you all use for adding photo frames around photos. I don't usually do much of this, but may have a requirement. Need good frame selection - artistic, old-time, etc.

Thanks...

I usually just do something in photpshop but it requires making your own.

If you can you can use Kodak gallery to sample pictures in their many frame. then you can screenshot (won't work if you need hi res).
Happy Editing,

Not quite sure of the resolution of these frames, it does say high resolution so it may be worth a look.

There seems to be quite a bit of choice.

Bob,

For frames I use Print Workshop 2009 or Photo Explosion Delux. Both you can get after rebate for about $30.00. I use Photo Explosion more because it has holiday fames and even magazine covers that I can import a photo in and then use in my video. I've done this for a few people (put them on the cover of a golfing magazine or cooking magazine) and they really like it!

Thanks all, and Theresa I will check out those programs.

I have done that kind of work many times in Photoshop, but I know that there are programs out there and automatically size the frame and the effort saved just having that done for you is worth it. I think I used to use Paint Shop Pro that had a lot of frames, but I let that license lapse a long time ago.

I do have on stock a few frame images that I cleared the center to transparent to use to poke video through, but this would just be for stills and in fairly large quantity, hence the desire for automation.

Hmmm. Perhaps I made a "penny-wise pound-foolish" mistake. I have always been a full Photoshop user and when I upgraded PRE to 7 I bought only that, not the package with PS Elements. Perhaps I should have... - PS CS2 that I am using doesn't have frames :(

Bobby,

do a Google search with <free photo frames download>. You get a lot of stuff and you might find what you are looking for.

Thanks Gerlinde, but I don't want frame images - I want a program that will automatically resize the frame to the photo, hopefully in batch mode. It's just too much work to do it manually for a lot of photos, unless you force a crop to a specific size and then size the frame once. But even then you still have to move the photo into the frame in your editor.

I am fairly sure that the last time I did this in Paint Shop Pro that you just selected the photo, selected the frame, clicked Go and it would do all the work for you.

I use onOne software's PhotoFrame Pro. It has 1,000+ frames and will size any frame to any photo. It's a bit pricey to buy at full retail, but if you're a student or can qualify for educational pricing it's not bad at all.
