Hi Cheryl,
I will jump in for a moment and Jamal can correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think you place the gradient images on the timeline, you add the Gradient Wipe Transition to your video (track 2 in this case) and then select the gradient image in the transition properties.

Jamal if you are doing something other than that I'm sorry and you can post the correct instructions.

hi Cheryl, Chucks right. You can accomplish this with one track and one picture file (jpg, gif or psd). The thing I think you're missing is that in the picture file contains the black to white transition for both the text AND the background. I may not be explaining it well. I'll post better instruction tonight on how to create the picture doc. I'll also post the document so that you can see what I mean.

I did not place the gradient images on the timelime, I applied the gradient transition to the clip and I customized using one of the images posted in the gallery. I used 3 tracks for the title, image one, and image two to show thru the cutout. (Used the matte track cut out #93 in PE3Snap...at least got that one right!) Must be doing something wrong when adding the gradient. The customized gradients from the gallery worked great with the wipe transition when I used 2 stills and no matte cutout. Will wait for the further instructions. Thanks Chuck & Wheat King.

Here's the Word Gradient. Cheryl could you capture a screenshot of the timeline? I'm having trouble visualizing...

Wheat King, I think I know the problem. If I want to use a word as the gradient, then I need to make a psd of the word (like your word gradient) and then use that to customize as the wipe transition. What I tried doing was make a title cut out of the word in PE3 for a track and applied a wipe transition using a customized vertical gradient. Correct?

I try to work on that one, things are getting busy for me around here. May is always a marathon.

Here's the Word Gradient. Cheryl could you capture a screenshot of the timeline? I'm having trouble visualizing...

Not sure how to do the above visual.

Thanks for all of the help. Seems like I learn something new everyday on here!

And Chuck, I can see myself trying to put the gradient on the timeline, so that was a safe assumption. :)

One more 101 question. How do I copy & paste from someone's post and have it show up in a box in my post?

Two ways really, there is a little 'Quote' button that will do it for you, or you can add the [quote] yourself in the box where you type your message. There is also a 'Quote' button in the Post a Reply area, you can respond to this and give it a try or go to the Testing Forum and type away :)

Yes I think you got it. you have to put the word into the psd and make the text in the word go black to white. and then make youre background white to black.

Got it! Made a psd with the word I wanted and works like a charm. This was faster than the lens flare sparkle

Hey Wheat King, got a question. I'd like to view your gradient movie, but its not displaying for me. Matter of fact, no files on muvipix with the .flv extension are working.

I saw Ron posted an flv player, but it looks like that requires a locally stored file to play. And that's another problem altogether for me, I get an "internal server error" anytime I try to download the original file.

Can you offer me some help? My apologies if I got OT, PM me if you'd rather. Thanks!!!

I can put it up in a different format (wmv) if you'd like. I won't be able to do it until this evening however.

Make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download ... ge=English

Other than that maybe Ron has some ideas what the problem might be.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Your Flash Plugin must be a minimum version 8 to see the videos.

What browser are you using (or are you using a download manager)?

The FLV Player download has nothing to do with the muvipix website. It's a player that plays FLVs client-side.
