DVD code protector

Postby ajm4207 » Sun Mar 07, 2021 10:58 pm

I can copy dvds by connecting a DVD player to my DVD player/recorder, recording the DVD onto the recorder hard drive then dubbing it to a DVD.
How can I do this when the source DVD is copy protected?
With thanks

Well, there is software out there for breaking this protection but -- well, the reason discs are protected are to guard against this very thing! Duplicating commercial videos for any kind of distribution is bootlegging.

My first question is why do you want to do this? Like Steve says, duplicating commercial DVDs is illegal.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Muvipix site does not condone or assist in illegal activities.

I thought we were allowed to make one backup copy without being arrested. Did that go away?

So it's illegal to copy a DVD? Interestingly, no. Judges have said that consumers have a right to copy a DVD for their own use—say, for backing it up to another disk or perhaps watching it on another device, such as an iPod. That's the same "fair use" rule that made it legal to tape television shows for watching later, perhaps on a different TV. The problem is that consumers can't duplicate DVDs without software tools that get around the copy protection on those disks. It is those tools that Congress outlawed.
