PSE7 gifs losing transparency

Postby Jayell » Sun Dec 05, 2010 9:38 pm

I don't remember this happening before (maybe it always has)
OK, so I have this psd file that has numerous layers. I bring a graphic in as a new layer, such as ..
dog w-leash.gif

It's a gif with transparent background. Everything is fine .. I close the file.
I re-open the file again and resize that gif .. then the background suddenly becomes white .. I just lost the transparency. I've also tried saving some of them as a psd before placing in my original file. Is that what's supposed to happen? I'm working with about 20 of these and am constantly resizing. This is making me crazy ](*,) .. oh, wait .. maybe I already was

edit: Is there a way to SAVE ALL when I've got 12 files open I've been working on?

Make sure, when you save a file you're working on, that you save it as a PSD. That should maintain its transparency.

Then, when you save it as a GIF, don't just use Save As, Jayell. That will save it as a flattened GIF.

Instead, go to File/Save for Web and, on the output screen, make sure the Transparency option is checked.

If the file won't save as a layered PSD, go to Image/Mode and make sure it's set to RGB color.

Since you opened your original file from a GIF, it may still be set to Indexed Color.
