Layered Photoshop FileHi All: Is there any way to import a photoshop file into premiere elements 3.0 and have each layer placed on a separate video row? Thank you .. Jim
Hi Jim,
In photoshop Elements you'll have to save each file as it's own layer. You'll want to maintain transparency for any images above your background. jpeg's do not support transparency so use gif or png. To export, I usually accomplish this by showing each layer that I want to save individually and hiding the other layers (repeat for each layer). Then you can send these individual files into Premiere Elements. _| /-\ /\/\ /-\ |_
If you have Photoshop CS2, there is a script that is included that will export individual layers to separate files. It may be in CS as well. That script doesn't include PNG in the options but Premiere Elements will import PSD files easily. There is a modification to that script available on ps-scripts.com that adds PNG support if you really want it. But, it's not really necessary.
ImageReady can also export layers as files. Once you have the individual files, you can import them into a Premiere Elements project and place them on the time line however you wish. GIF is fine for graphic artwork, logos, etc. but it's not so great for continuous tone images like photographs. I would not recommend GIF for photos as it uses indexed colors and really doesn't look as good.
And, as I said on the Adobe forum, if you'll tell us what you're trying to accomplish, we may be able to suggest a simple way to accomplish it.
