Hello Everyone!

A place to introduce and tell a little about yourself.

Hello Everyone!

Postby jmsweatt » Sun May 17, 2009 6:29 pm

My name is Jim Sweatt and I'm a 47 year old male electrical engineer from Birmingham, AL. I am happily married for 22 years now and have 2 great kids. I've been using Premiere Elements since the 1st version and have recently upgraded to version 7. Although I've created many interesting movies over the years, I feel I've only scratched the surface and I'm really looking forward to learning from you all.

I am embarking on a large project to convert roughly 100 hours of VHS, VHS-C, DVD and Hi8 video to digital form using a Canopus ADVC-55 and use PE7 to edit/author/filter/add effects and then share it out to a server where I make it more accessible to my family via media extender box connected into my home theater system.

See you in the forums!

Jim

Welcome to Muvipix, Jim! You won't find a friendlier community of fellow videomakers anywhere!

Please keep us up on your successes. We all benefit as much from hearing of successes as we do working through challenges.

And, when you've got something you're especially proud of, I hope you'll share a clip in our Gallery.

Glad to have you here.

Hi Jim, Welcome to Muvipix :meet:

Lots of folks here have done the same thing you are doing, converting old videos.

As far as doing more than just scratching the surface, check out the Gallery.
Especially the contest videos from the past 5 years, lots of great stuff for inspiration :)

You will find a lot of help and ideas here from the many folks who have been on this forum for many years.

I hope that you will share with us some of your experiances (both successes and failures) and that we can learn from your years of using Pre El.

Wow, you guys really know how to welcome someone! I wasn't expecting the whole crew to turn out! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I've already learned a lot from reading through the posts. I'll try to contribute where I can.
