Here's a logo animation that I put together with Blackmagic Fusion 8 available for free from https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/



This is my first go and the particles are taken from a youtube tutorial (more or less). The package seems to be very powerful and has been totally stable and the learning curve - although steep - isn't unreasonable.

I'm genuinely surprised how little the paid for version gives you - apart from "plugin support" everything else is what you need for a studio rather than personal use (render farms, shared workloads, 8K support, 3d). The node based interface is interesting. Here's the nodes for the above effect:

That was pretty cool. Does it have the ability to make the background translucent so you can add on to a video?

Yes - just delete/remove the background (I added it specifically for the shadow) and the export can contain transparent layers (if the format's right).
