Mexico Slices 6 - Coba & Dos Ojos

Postby momoffduty » Mon Jan 09, 2017 2:40 pm

Fun day back in November in the Mexican jungle of Coba and an underground cenote Dos Ojos. It was a little tricky swimming in the tunnel between stalagmites trying not to damage them or my head! Huge fine if you damage any stalagmites.

Once again, Cheryl, your video has brought a little sunshine to my chilly winter day.

WOW Mom these keep getting better and better. I really liked that video. When I click play I am immediately looking for Dad and then the foot shot. I was not disappointed. This was really well done and I kept thinking...."man I would love to hang out with these guys." Nice creative camera work. I like the slow panning on shots and of course the location really lends itself to being recorded. The one thing that struck me was the shot of the bicycles. I was amazed at the scale of tourism that must travel through there. They even have to have an onsite bike shop to keep up with repairs. That was pretty mind boggling too. I also thought that the music was really well placed.

As Siskle and Ebert say.....

On a cold day in Middle America this looks especially good. Very nicely done, as always, Cheryl. Are we about ready for a Muvipix group excursion to a warm exotic locale? Thanks for sharing!

You never cease to amaze my Cheryl. To say that Muvipix was even a small part of the videographer you have become is an honor. Years ago I don't think you could have even imagined you would be putting together videos like this :TU:
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

The camera also did a nice job underwater. The water must have been really neat to see.

Thanks guys! Cold and ice here so wishing I was back in Mexico. Have had the flu too. Oh, well.

Yes, a Muvipix meetup in Mexico would be great! The tours with Rod & Juan are like spending the day with old friends. We got to Coba before it opened. The shot of the entry was actually after we finished the tour. I had forgotten to get the entrance shot earlier. We beat the big bus tours by about 2 hours. They have bikes to choose from or pedicab. Outside the entrance is a gift shop. As I was waiting for Mr. Dad shopping, I noticed the bike hut next door. I asked the men if I could take photos and video. I doubt they get any tourists.

The water in the cave is very clear, but since it is dark the other underwater video didn't turn out. There were scuba divers swimming under us at times.

The building panning shots are hand held and not stabilized in post. I think it was Steve or Chuck or Peru Bob that said no matter how slow you think you are going go slower. The cave walking shots are slowed down to 75% to make it smoother. A few shots I used the warp stabilizer: the static shots and the inside walking tunnel shot.

Chuck, yes I was Ms Pib back when you started this site. Question after question after question. Thanks for putting up with me.

Very nice video Cheryl! ::CLAP: (Though those steps made me nervous after my big fall in '15 and the bat cavern caused me to turn away...ick, bats...) Other than that, it was great!!! It was so interesting and everything just flowed so nicely. I bet you wish you were there now, right? :)

Looks like Mr. Mom behaved himself pretty well this time, though, I guess we haven't seen the outtakes... ;)

Hi Sherrin, yes the steps were carefully taken. There is actually 2 sections of steep steps. Good thing there are rubber mats on the stairs with all of the wet people walking. The steps into the cenote are very slippery.

There is a 2nd video in the works with more Dad shots. :-D
