Video about Flowers

Postby Ron Hunter » Wed Nov 12, 2014 12:15 pm

My wife has done a wonderful job of landscaping around our home. During the warm weather months earlier this year I took photos of the different flowers that bloomed over time. I don't know the names of all of the flowers, but they are pretty! Anyway, I created a video (photo slideshow) of the flowers so she could remember what they looked like once cold weather settled in.

I don't remember why I did this, but some of the photos were 5184x3456 JPEG, while others were 3456x2304 JPEG. (The photos were shot with my Rebel T4i and apparently I didn't check the quality settings before some of the shoots.) Despite the file size differences I just loaded them all into FCPX and assembled my 1080p timeline, no rendering/resizing required. I only needed rendering after I applied the "Ken Burns" crop effect to each photo. I also expanded the dynamic range of each photo in FCPX but the colors weren't touched. I actually decreased the saturation on a few photos. I think the colors are amazing. I like contrast and bold colors.

The music is from jamenco.com and I think it is excellent. I wouldn't mind buying stuff from that artist.

I'm really happy with how this turned out, but more importantly, my wife is happy! Anyway, here is the video:

Beautiful photography Ron! Great to have a green thumb and lovely garden. Did you use a macro lens for some of the shots?

Thanks Patrice! I had no idea. I'll run that list by my wife and she if she knows all of them.

Watched this one again and enjoyed it a second time. The flowers are bursts of color. I liked your pan and zoom. I would love to capture a formal garden that has hundreds of the same plants for that color effect.
