Erice is located on top of Mount Erice, at around 2,460 ft above sea level, overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands of Levanzo, Favignana and Marettimo on Sicily's north-western coast.

The old road up to Erice has some serious and narrow hairpin bends which makes for an interesting drive! There is a newer road that is less"interesting" and in recent years the opening of a cable car from Trapani has made the hilltop town more easily accessible.

Erice is the seat of the important scientific centre founded by Prof. Zichichi.
The 1st International Short Film Festival in Erice was an important event too, it occurred from june 17 to 21 this year.
People from Erice are considered genius for creating a local economy based on scientific exchanges and great tourist accomodation.
