Cooking With Opa

Postby Gerlinde » Sun Mar 30, 2014 10:28 pm

I made this video at the end of 2010. At that time the girls were 9 and 10 years old. I can't belief how much they have changed. I still love to watch this video. I hope you will enjoy it too.

That's a keeper! Every year that video will become more and more precious. The food looked delicious too! :TU:

Just a couple days ago my wife and I were watching some old videos that my dad had taken on 8mm film, later transferred to VHS, and then I transferred to DVD. In the oldest vids I was about 3 1/2 years, my sister about 6 mos. Later along came my brother. Lots of the old neighborhood and friends who I lost track of 45 years ago. No sound, and not the best quality, but what memories! I wish I could tell my dad how much those videos mean to me now.
Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Cheryl, Opa stands for grandpa and Oma for grandma in German. I'm German and both of my children are. We have always tried to get the girls to speak german. They understood the language well in the beginning , but when they went to kindergarden they started telling us not to speak spanish to them :-D . They are now 12 and 14 and have lost most of their abilities to at least understand. But they have a little 4 year old brother who is still understanding and even speaks some german and they are trying now to speak too.

Dave, I'm glad my parents took some pictures of me once in a while :-D . I wish I had some video footage of my kids when they were young. I tried to make up for it filming my granddaughters.

But with my grandsons I have not filmed as much, it is somehow harder to do. I don't really know why. :-k

Peru, the beginning and ending clips are from one of the Instand Movie themes available with PRE.

Gerlinde, thanks for the German lesson! Too funny that they told you not to speak Spanish. :fg: Now that you got a GoPro it should be easier to film the grandsons. :)
