Capture Software

Postby tedco » Sat May 27, 2023 12:01 am

It is probably the wrong corner I am posting but trying anyway with just a quick question.

I am using Elgato Video Capture with their supplied software.
The latest version available from their web-site is 1.15.2 from 2011 and seems rather dated.

Is there any other software available I can use to capture from analog camcorder ?
If so, any recommendation would be greatly appreciated,

I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 2023, but when connecting the camcorder, it does not show up in Add Media > DVD camera - assume it is because it as analog......

Thank you

There is some free software, but I've had it work on some machines and not work on others. But it wouldn't hurt to try.

But there's a video capture system built into CyberLink PowerDirector that works flawlessly for me. It's become my go-to. Unfortunately you have to buy PowerDirector to get it. But since I use PowerDirector often anyway, I'm glad to have it.

There may be better and less costly options, but I can't personally vouch for them.

Thank you for your reply, Steve,

I do actually have a copy of Cyberlink, that came with my computer.
But must admit I never looked at it, since I am using Adobe's products.

On searching the web, I came across OBS - https://obsproject.com/
A free software for video recording and live streaming.

I installed and made a quick trial which seems to work great.
The program itself gives a great many choices.

Thanks again for your help,
