Slow and Jerky

I've been using PE for a while and made some videos with 2022. This past week though when I first open and use the clip monitor it works fine but after a short time, it's all slow and jerky. I've rebooted my Windows 10 PC with the same result. Any idea where I should look for resolution?

The computer is not able to handle the graphics so you need to render the file. This lets the program create a file that is compatible and smooth. If your timeline has a red line across it, it needs to be rendered. Just press the enter key and the program will render the files. When completed you should have a green line over you video file and it should play fine.

If that doesn't do it, lets consider the specs of the video file.

Open the original video you're trying to edit in the free download MediaInfo. in MediaInfo, set View to Text, then copy the complete text of this report and paste it to this forum. With those complete specs, we may find a clue why the program is bogging down.

Other things to consider are, of course, your computer specs, operating system and your project settings. But first let us have a look at the specs of the video you're editing.

I think you might be having issues because you are using Format : HEVC which is really quite processor intensive. If you can provide your machine specs that might help identify if your computer is strong enough for Format : HEVC. If not you can always use the freeware Handbrake to convert to an MPEG4 file.

I agree with Sidd. Premiere Elements 2022 can edit HEVC and it can edit 4K -- but it's probably going to choke on HEVC 4K, which is what this video is. Particularly at 60 fps.

Here are instructions for converting video using Handbrake. Try converting your video to a more traditional 4K and see if that makes a difference. Use the instructions in the video, except set your video up at 3840x2160 at 30 fps.
