Windows 11 and premier elements 2022

Postby ed » Sun Jan 23, 2022 1:06 pm

So I bought a new windows 11 laptop yesterday (the horror!!) and downloaded adobe premier 2022 on it. A couple things, I did a very short video of my neighbor and the service dog puppy he's sitting. I just added video and sound fade by right clicking the clip, and when I exported the fades were not included in the exported video. Also, when I tried to delete the video clip from the laptop it wouldn't let me because it said it was open in Adobe Creative something. I had to to go into task manager and close Adobe active threads (why are there so many after the Adobe program has been closed? I don't like that Adobe!). A person without a lot less PC experience may not know how to do this. I'll play around more later this week, but that's messed up.

I have noticed some strange behavior with Premiere Elements on the Audio 2 track. Sometimes it imports video as if it were 5.1 audio instead of stereo, and that keeps fades and changes in volume levels from working right. The indicator can sometimes be seen on the Track Header to the right. Is that what you're seeing, ed?

For what it's worth, it's less a Windows 11 issue than it is something Adobe needs to address in Premiere Elements. In fact, I've been kind of expecting a patch for this for some time. Adobe made some major changes to the way the timeline works and looks in version 2022, and some of the results haven't been positive.

I'm not sure about the file you're unable to delete. That happened to me too, but just once. I'm not sure what's causing it. Sorry.

Meantime, have a look at your timeline and see if you get the same odd 5.1 indicators on your troubling Track Header and in the Audio Mixer.

I really didn't spend that much time with it Steve. I had about 1.5 minutes of my neighbor and the service dog puppy he's baby sitting from my Canon camcorder. I will say that he's involved in a great charity, service dogs for wounded troops, and the dogs are always fun. I help him with them if he has to be not available to watch the dogs.

I had it on video track 1. Also, when I exported the file was huge, but I think that's more my lack of practice with Elements. The interface was confusing to me, it seemed it was dumbed down a little, but I was too dumb to figure it out!

I'll play around with it more. Except for the 'bloat' I've always liked Adobe video and photo software.

A little off thread but I have been using Win 11 since October and, aside from one or two exhibitions of strange behaviour with MS Word .docx attachements to emails and also problems with the start menu, there have been no problems at all with application programs per se.

I don't think the issue is with Windows 11. I think it's a Premiere Elements 2022 issue.

Sometimes it imports regular stereo video as 5.1 audio -- and that causes some of the problems ed experienced. I've experienced them too!

I'm going to try it again later this evening. I'll look for that audio 5.1 issue you mentioned Steve.

Thanks!

I tied that video clip again and everything was fine this time, I guess I fixed it :-D

It was a MP4 file, and this version of Premiere had no problem with it. My old version, 2015, couldn't do anything with that format for me.

Also, when I deleted the file from the laptop this time I put it in the wastebasket first instead of just deleting it. That worked fine.

I just used the quick export setting and the quality was OK. What custom settings, if any, do you use for uploading to YouTube or Vimeo?

Thanks all.

No custom settings for YouTube for me. I just use 1920x1080 MP4.

Be sure to let me know if you start seeing that buggy behavior again, ed. It was rather intermittent for me. I don't know why it happened. But it does happen often enough that it drives me crazy!

Again, the 5.1 audio issue seems to happen when I add video with audio to Video/Audio 2 above video on Video/Audio 1.

I just upgraded to win 11 and so far it seems to run Premiere CS6 with no issues. I have Pre Elements 21 to try and edit some of the GoPro 5k video but have not used the software yet. Thanks for the heads up.
