3 videoclips - with sound - simultaniosly

Postby Flebras » Sun Sep 05, 2021 6:39 am

I am new on Premiere Elements 2020. I have the book by Steve (on the 2021 edition of the program)
With 3 cameras I have made videos simultaniously of me talking - from different angles. I want to switch between the defferent takes. And keep the sound on without interuptions.
Can I do that i Elements 2020?

No. Multi-camera editing is something long requested but never offered by Premiere Elements.

There are ways to cut between camera angles in Premiere Elements, but they are clunky and take a lot of extra effort.

For multicamera editing, the best consumer editing program I've found is CyberLink PowerDirector Ultimate. Which I've also written books on.

As Steve said it is a bit fiddly but it can be done.

If the videos were made simoultaneously (so that the sound track is "consistent") you could try placing each video on a separate track (video 1 on track 1; video 2 on track 2; video 3 on track 3) and switching between them.

Make the switch between tracks by changing the track opacity so that only the track that you wish to view is at 100%, the other two at 0% opacity. Hope that makes sense. :conf:

I do it the same way that John suggests and I have done dozens of 3 camera videos. The hardest part is syncing the tracks but once that is done it really isn't too difficult to switch between cameras/tracks.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

...but synching the tracks will be easier if you can find a distinct/significant sound - think of a Hollywood style clapper board. Isn't hindsight wonderful? :(

I did an interview and had no trouble syncing the audio.
I forgot to turn off the telephone during the interview. ;)

Not to beat an almost dead horse here, but I still say that, although it can be done, Premiere Elements isn't the ideal tool for this type of editing.

With Cyberlink PowerDirector, the clips sync up automatically and cutting between clips is as easy as clicking on a thumbnail, as my tutorial above shows.

Why struggle trying to use a butter knife as a screwdriver? It all goes so much easier when you're using a tool actually designed for what you're trying to do.

And now I'll shut up.
