Burning a DVD

Specific to Premiere Elements version 2021

Burning a DVD

Postby ClaudiaZ » Fri Jun 18, 2021 8:25 am

I recently bought Premiere Elements 2021 and edited my first video with it. After I finished editing, I tried to burn my project to a DVD+R in my disk drive. The program wouldn't let me burn a DVD, and I received these messages from Premiere: The first message was "Invalid location. The drive you have chosen is a DVD/CD drive. Please choose another location." Isn't that the drive I want to use to burn a DVD? The second message was "Status: Invalid Folder Location". I also have screenshots of these messages within the program, but I don't know to post images to this forum. Thanks for any help I can get.

Welcome to Muvipix Claudia! In the Export & Share dialogue box, please tell us exactly the steps you're using to get these errors.

Chuck as a new user, can Claudia do that? I was thinking that one had to post a minimum number of times before they would be allowed to upload attachments. Five, maybe?

Chuck, thank you for letting me know. I'm posting two screenshots, so I hope they are both visible.

Change the Type to Disc instead of ISO Image.

As is visible in the two screenshots, I did choose Disc as the type. Since my disk drive couldn't be used by the program, I changed the file type to ISO, and was able to save the file. Then I burned the file to a DVD, which will play on the computer, but not on a DVD or Blu-Ray player. I might be able to play it if I can finalize it, but I don't know how to do that. Does anyone know how to finalize a burned DVD?

I'm a little confused. In your screenshots the type is ISO Image, not Disc. That's what I was referring to. If you select Disc you should be able to burn to a DVD. Maybe we're just not communicating. :)

Dave, I think you may be right. I hadn't changed the Type box at the bottom of the screen. I chose Disc at the top of the Export and Share screen, and gave the drive destination of my DVD burner. I'll change Type to DVD, and see if it works. Thanks for pointing this out!

I changed the Type setting to Disc, as I hope you can see in the new screenshot. Now under Destination it says "No Burners Available" , and the Status is "No burners detected". I'd like to give it the location of my DVD burner, but it won't let me. Any other suggestions??

Do you actually have a blank disc in the drive? I know Windows 10 doesn't show optical drives in Windows Explorer unless there's a disc in the drive. Maybe PrEl needs the disc in the drive.

Yes, I have a blank DVD+R in the drive. I don't understand why the program doesn't let me select it.

I don’t either at this point. You might try saving your project, leaving the disc in the drive, closing the program, then reopening, and trying again.

I can try that, but if it still doesn't work, is there a way to contact Adobe tech support?
