Photos Blurred in Instant Movie

Postby kenskopp » Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:01 pm

Photo 2 Instant Movie.jpg
Hello,

I tried making 5 Instant Movies from 209 photos for a DVD of Christmas for my Grandchildern. Four of the Instant Movies I used the Christmas theme. Four the fifth, I used Fun at the Beach. Each had varying numbers of photos 9 to 45. In the four "Christmas" Instant Movies, photos were blurred as shown in the 3 snipped images attached. The fifth "Fun at the Beach" only had 9 photos with none blurred. I upgraded from PRE2018 and have never experienced this before. My first run I had not downsized all the photos and the blurred photos appeared. I resized all 209 photos to 1,000x667 pixels. Blurred photos apeared. Around three to four per Instant Movie.
* Is there a maximum number of photos that can be made into an Instant Movie?
* How can one insure that the order of photos I put on timeline will be the same order in the Instant Movie?
Any help and suggestions appreciated.

There certainly is no maximum number of photos that I know of.

It could be something unique to that template.

I've never been a fan of InstantMovies, so I've not got a lot of experience there. Have you tried using the Organizer's Slideshow Maker instead? It's a much more sophisticated tool that produces much better results. Likewise, Video Story.

InstantMovie was an early attempt by Adobe to keep pace with iMovie. After its initial release, they did very little to improve the feature. The Create Slideshow tool in the Organizer is newer and much better.

OK Steve,

In PSE15, there was a very straight forward Slide Show creator. When I updated to PSE2018, the new slideshow creator added a selection of themes. That style continued in PSE & PRE2021. Is it possible to create a slideshow in PSE 2021 & PRE 2021 that allows me to order the slides and apply my own audio without "cute" themes? The problem with blurred photos in Instant Movies was not present in PRE 2018.

Those blurred images look like they are part of a certain type of transition. Not sure which one. You would have to break apart the instant movie to see what was used.

OK

I figured things out. I will only use the Classic Theme in the slideshow creator in Photoshop Elements. It is the less "cute" option. Photos stay the in order I want and I can add my own music. The blurred objects are photos in the Instant Movies. When I broke apart the Instant Movie, I could cut the blurred photo. A blank black space remained. I could not delet and close the gap. It is sad that Adobe does not clean up problems with Instant Movie option. I even tried just the pan and zoom theme and I could not maintain order I wanted.

Thanks

After breaking apart an instant movie with the Christmas theme in Pre 2020, I can see that the Zoom Blur effect was used in the Christmas theme.
To break apart an instant movie: right-click on the instant movie on the timeline, then select Clip > Break Apart. Now you'll be able to edit the individual photos to remove that effect.

You can just remove the Zoom Blur effect from the photo once you break apart the movie. You don't need to delete the photo from timeline.
Also, when you first create an instant movie, you are given options to Personalize it. Uncheck the option, Auto Edit. The photos should then stay in the order you put them.
