Frame width and height

Postby tedco » Thu Dec 31, 2020 12:10 am

Hi and Happy New Year,

Still working on old vhs movies which I transferred to an external hard disk recorder and am trying to edit in Premiere Elements 2021.

They were initially saved as VOB-files, which Premiere Elements accepts.
When checking Properties in Window Explorer, it tells me the file has a frame width and height of 720 x 576, frame rate as 25.

When I drag it over to Premiere and check properties in Project Assets, it tells me a different story as Image Size is now 540 x 576, same frame rate as 25.

Everything looks squashed and unnaturally in the preview monitor.
Let alone when trying to export to file.

Anything I can do to recover or rescue the format ?

Thanks,
tedco

Right-click on the video and your Project Assets panel and select Interpret Footage. On the Interpret Footage screen, under Pixel Aspect Ration, select Conform to and try a couple of these settings.

If that doesn't do it, we'll need to use MediaInfo to check the video's specs and figure out what the PAR is for the video.
