Reinstalling PE 2020 on Windows 10

Reinstalling PE 2020 on Windows 10

Postby videogeorge » Tue Mar 01, 2022 7:45 pm

Hope this hasn't been asked before. I recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows 10 Home 64-bit on my laptop. When I tried reinstalling Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2020 I received a message saying it's no longer supported and I need to upgrade to Windows 11. Is that true? I hope not because I don't believe my machine is capable. Here are the specs:

Intel Core i7 4710HQ @ 2.50GHz Haswell 22nm Technology
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 2290 (U3E1)
Graphics: Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 4600 (HP)
Storage: 931GB Hitachi HGST HTS541010A9E680 (SATA )

Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A lot of people are seeing this confusing message but, no, you should definitely not need to install Windows 11 to run this software.

You may, however, need to remove Internet Explorer and ensure you have all the latest updates to Windows 10 including Microsoft Edge (its replacement for Internet Explorer).

I haven't received this message so I've not been able to test this fix from Adobe. If installing all the latest updates and removing Internet Explorer doesn't fix things, these solutions might.

As it turned out I was unable to reinstall PE 2020 with the recommendations suggested above - however I was able to sign into my adobe account and luckily I registered the software when I bought it. They had it saved with the serial numbers and I was able to download it from Adobe and get it reinstalled. If I hadn't tried the methods Steve suggested I wouldn't have stumbled upon the Adobe website and would still be searching. Thank you Steve!

I'm glad you found a solution, George! I just hope we or Adobe can get to the bottom of this issue and figure out why so many people are getting this message.
