Fonts that type in as boxes

Postby john a » Tue Nov 17, 2020 5:56 pm

Hi Guys and Girls
I don't understand the Type Fonts that only produce boxes.
Font "MATTEROFFACT" in Photoshop works, but the same font in PE2020
makes boxes as well as many other fonts.
Couldn't find any reference in THE BOOK on on HELP.
What don't I know ?
Thanks

What operating system are you using?

Is this font a text or is it a graphics font like Wingdings?

And where did you get the font Matter of Fact? I don't have it on my computer, so it's not a standard font or one that came with an Adobe program.

Apparently the issue is related to something called unicode. Some programs support unicodes that others do not.

Beyond that, maybe one of your techies can explain it better.

I'm back. The real world got in the way the last two weeks.
I'm running PE2020 on Windows 10 out of the box.
When changing the font type in just ordinary text it seems
that any font titled that is CAPITALIZED, such as:
HERMAN , MANDELA , MATTEROFFACT , NEOLITH and PUPPYLIKE
just produce boxes instead of text.
All of these font in my Photo Shop 2020 show up just fine.
Hell I even gave it a STYLE which just produced a box inside another box.
I understand graphic text and have used Wingding.
I got around the problem by just creating the title in Photo Shop
but still it would be nice to understand this thing.
Any more thoughts out there.
Thanks

I don't know enough about how fonts work to know. Maybe someone else does. All I know is that none of those fonts appear in my Windows installation. It could be that they are not standard Windows font types.
