Error when reading dvd disc

Postby tedco » Sun Mar 20, 2022 9:06 pm

Hi,
I have a number of dvd-disc's which have all been burned with home recordings using an early version of Premiere Elements.
The discs are from 2005.
This morning I was trying to copy the content (vob format) from the dvd to my hard drive.
An "Error 0x80070570 - The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" came up.
Is there a way to correct this error on a dvd+R disc ?
Or any other way to copy the files to my hard drive ?
Your help and support is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
tedco

What is your intended use of the file from the DVD?
Do you want to edit it or just play it?

Thanks for your reply,
Both actually - and also in order to have a backup on my hard drive.
Back in the days it was highly recommended to use dvd's discs for backup's.
But with several of my dvd's reporting Error, I do question how true that actually was.

Before I had my NAS I used to use an old SSD in an external caddy and back up to that using Macrium Reflect. That hardware is now re-deployed and is connected to my Samsung TV to record TV programmes :)

Thanks for your reply,
Yes, I have one of them already.
However, what I don't understand is why many of the dvd's are time stamped as 1970 ?
They were burned in 2005 or later, and system time was correct as other dvd's are fine.
Thanks again
