Though, for the record, at 62 you're not the oldest member of this community by any means, Matt. In fact, I'm rumored to even have a year or two on you!

All of this stuff was new to us all at one time too. That's why Muvipix exists - to help folk get over the problems that seem determined to throw us of course. So there is no such thing as "dumb" here. Just folk helping other folk who seem to be having a few stumbles along the road.

I've received your e-mail and downloaded your source video from Dropbox. Based on experiments I did with the video, here is the response I e-mailed to you:

I loaded the video into Premiere Elements 2019 and it worked perfectly. The program matched the video specs and it output a video at the same quality.

Though the video YouTube is providing you is not a high quality video. It's overly-compressed and standard resolution, so it's not going to give you much better than a 640x480 video with lots of artifacts.

The "negative effect" you describe appears in the original video so, if it's not on the original video on YouTube, your YouTube Converter is adding it.

I'm not sure what to recommend to you other than to find another source for your video.

If you are having folks upload the clips to YouTube so that you are able to download them to your machine you might recommend that they upload the videos as 4k video even though the source is not 4k. Why? Because Youtube will upload the video at a higher bit rate giving you a little bit better quality on the download.

Are you able to determine the type of camera these folks are using to upload their video? That might help identify is there is any common issue you are experiencing. Hope you solve this mystery.

As it turns out I figured this issue out. My processor is not fast enough. I am doing more and more with this so it appears I will need a new computer.
Or maybe just live with it. Inconvenient. Thank you all for your help.

You might look into editing by proxy which might lessen some of the strain
