PRE 2019 no audio after importing video

Specific to Premiere Elements version 2019

By "rendering" do you mean rendering the timeline -- that the quality of the video playing on your timeline is not as good after rendering?

If so, remember that it's just a preview. In fact, you can set the quality level of your preview in the program's preferences. But it's still just a preview.

How good or bad it looks will not affect how your final output looks.

One thing I noticed after editing and saving the first video is that the quality isn't as good after editing. The video seems less clear and sometimes slightly pixelated- very slightly but noticeable quality decline. Is this an upload issue on my part?

I'm not sure what you mean by an upload issue. Are you saving the exported edited video to your local hard drive or are you uploading the export directly to a video service such as Youtube or Vimeo? If you are uploading to a service, be aware that the service may recompress your video and you may not necessarily be viewing the video from the service at the same resolution or bitrate as your exported video.

If you export to your hard drive, you can make a better comparison of before and after. In general, a single generation export (i.e load the original, edit, and export) will lose a little quality because the compression method used is "lossey". But, normally, the difference is practically indistinguishable from the original unless you've done something to drastically alter the quality such as enlarging the video well past 100%, lowering the video bitrate significantly, or trying to output to a much higher resolution than the original. Of course, the quality of the original also matters.

You didn't post the MediaInfo data for the Video portion. Could you do that for both the original video and the edited video that you exported. Also, what were your export settings?

Hey Guys, sorry I've been MIA. I've been really sick. The video quality seems a bit better now and thanks for all your suggestions. With that, I have another question: is there a way for me to create animated snow in my video...at least in the intro?

Hi Bren, sorry to hear you have been sick but glad you are back !!

Here is one way

https://design.tutsplus.com/articles/cr ... -psd-36702

I used to have a little tool that would do this but can't remember what it was, maybe someone else will remember it.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Found an old post with the tool that I have used many times, it is still available and works great for many things including snow.

Thanks so much, Chuck! Will give these a try and let you know how it goes! I'm trying to film a holiday home tour and it's not going so well. I'm terrible with the camera/camcorder. So much harder than it looks so I'm hoping adding a few neat elements and effects will help! lol So late to game because of being sick..ugh!

Ok, so I'm not very technologically inclined...lol...is this something I use with PRE while editing? There is no option to do this in PRE is there? :(

Hi Bren, Maybe we can find you a snowfall clip with a transparent background that you can put on a lower track that will work. Might also be another way to do this but will have to see if anyone else has any ideas or workarounds to add the snow.

Here are some falling snow clips with transparent backgrounds that you can download and use in PRE.

Thanks so much! Will try these out! Unfortunately, the audio issue has returned in PRE. I imported another set of 'spliced' or broken up (by my camcorder) videos to the editor and only the first video imported with audio. :( I'm getting so discouraged. :(

I feel like the worlds biggest idiot right now. I cannot figure out how to download the snow overlays from youtube OR how to use them in PRE. :/

Hi Bren,

Do you have any of Steve's books on Premiere Elements to help you through some of the basics? We also have basic training tutorials that are free right here at Muvipix. I highly recommend Steve's book and taking a look at our free tutorials to get a good basic understand of the program and how to navigate and add media, etc. :)

Re: PRE 2019 no audio after importing video

Postby wschumac » Sun Feb 10, 2019 6:46 pm

I too just had this occur to me as well. I had been using a SONY HDR CX-675 Video Camera with using AVCHD format and I produced about 10-12 videos with it using PE 2019 and just today I used the microchip from the camera into a Dell, WIn 7, 16gb desktop computer SD slot and it copied it fine. By itself, the video has audio, but when I pull it into PE 2019, the video track disappears on the time-line. I am puzzled why it worked before and not now. I used the same chips, same everything and don't know why. The error came up stating I had no audio for the PE program, but that is not true. Can you please assist me on this?
