problems opening PE projects

Postby ojh » Wed Dec 29, 2021 8:19 am

I have not been using PE for some time, and returning to previous projects, I experience, that loading the projects stop at the screen shown in my attachment.
When I skip the screen, the projects open without problems.
I have tried to create a new project, save it and reopen it in the same way as the old ones.
This project opens without problems, but still has the same “layout file“ as shown on the old projects that stop opening at the layout file.
Can anybody help?

Happy new year to all

I know of no reason opening a project would stop at a Get Properties screen. I have never seen this.

Were your projects created in the same version of the program you are using to open them (version 2019)?

Are you using File/Open to open the project or are you using another means?

Also, do you get the same results if you save your project to Documents/Projects rather than directory folder you are saving to?

I open the project from recent projects in PE
I use the same version PE 2019 as always
If I rename the old projects and try to open it from PE, it will also not open,
I have never had the problem before.
the new file is saved to the same folder and opens without any problem

I'm sorry. I have never seen this before and I don't know what to suggest.

Have you tried saving your project to Documents/Projects to see if that makes a difference?

This is a complete shot in the dark.

In Windows default settings for associating file types to programs has something changed there?

Problem solved.
I had moved the the original music score to another location on the hard drive, so the link between the program assets and the storage library was wrong.
Still - the project would open showing the music score on the timeline, but music would not play.
Thanks for your help, and a happy new year to all

Glad you found the solution, ojh! Sometimes it's the simplest things...
