Importing Folder from Windows Live Photo Gallery

Postby gabills » Tue May 08, 2018 8:54 pm

I'm new to these Message Boards and to Photoshop Elements 2018. Most all my past photos have been organized using 'Windows Live Photo Gallery' with folders under 'Date Taken' structure. I'm not able to import any of these folders thus far. How can I get my extensive photo collection into Elements Organizer? I'd be forever grateful for any help.

Thanks, Bill S (gabills)

I don't know that it's possible, Bill.

Hi Bill, I am assuming you have the actual files on your computer or on an external drive, correct?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Steve and Chuck, this is what I've learned thus far concerning moving files from 'Windows Live Photo Gallery' to some other location..

1) Your pictures are not *in* Windows Photo Gallery... it simply records the path to the location of the pictures (this is Key information).

2) Open Windows Photo Gallery and right click one of the thumbnails for the pictures you are looking for... from the menu... choose... Properties....

3) On the General tab at "Location" you will see the path to the folder the pictures are saved in... (Hint: you may not see the complete path unless you highlight
the text by dragging your pointer across it from left to right)

In my case, I found the desired files in Drive E: and was able to move them to a folder in my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 Organizer. Thus far it appears that the Organizer is functioning normally with these relocated files.
