Two editors, one project

Postby bobfranz » Sun May 06, 2018 1:37 pm

My friend and I edit/produce our ski club video every year. We've both upgraded to PRE 2018 and I'd like input on the best way to proceed. He edits one or two trips as I do, on our separate Windows PC's. Then we combine our work for the final product. In prior versions of Premiere Elements we would use a format that is not available in PRE 2018 to save our edited sub projects before combining them. What's the best way to do this in PRE 2018?

I guess it depends on what you mean by combining your work. If he's working on the first half and you're working on the second and you just want to create a project that combines each of your completed pieces, that's easy. Otherwise it gets a bit more complicated.

How do you plan to share your final output? BluRay? DVD? YouTube?

How you plan to share it determines how to combine the two halves.

Yes it's the simple adding his finished product and mine for output to DVD. We used AVCHD the last few years and published/saved to M2T format before combining our work and burning DVD's. I guess in PRE 2018 M2T is not available.

You can use the 1920x1080 MP4 output and you'll get the same results. You'll be able to combine the outputs into a single project.

PrE 2018 supports AVCHD for import but not for export. I agree with Steve, use MP4 instead of AVCHD.
