A new Thermal Drone

Postby sidd finch » Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:32 am

This looks pretty interesting.

The new drone, being called the ANAFI Thermal, will include a 4K HDR camera with a 21-megapixel sensor and 3x digital zoom. Its camera is mounted on a gimbal that’s capable of tilting 90 degrees up and down. What makes the drone really standout from other drones is its titular thermal camera. The ANAFI Thermal is capable of shooting live images that layer thermal and high-res images. For instance, Parrot aims to aid firefighters, solar panel inspectors and the building/construction industry.

Interesting. This would be great to help locate anyone trapped under flood/earthquake debris.

I'd like to be able to film the opposite. Not necessarily with a drone... I've read that butterflies' vision goes far into the ultraviolet. I have several trees in my yard that are a host plant for yellow swallowtails. The flowers of the tree are not particularly appealing. Greenish with a yellow base and an orange center. Mostly pale green. Against green leaves.

I'd love to know what the butterflies see.

Considering how tall these trees are, maybe a drone would be a good idea!
