Burning Down the House

Postby sidd finch » Fri Nov 09, 2018 2:26 pm

Because of the unseasonably dry and warm weather our beautiful state continues to burn with another massive wildfire. Even though this new one is over 200 miles north, the air pattern is blowing the smoke south over San Jose. This is an early morning video and picture taken today Nov 9th with San Jose in the background and you can see the smoke like a blanket over everything.

The pixelization is from VIMEO compression....sorry.

Saw it on the news tonight. Had hoped this stuff was over for the year. Horrible, horrible.

Hurricanes are awful. FIRES are, to quote Dave, horrible, horrible!!!

From here it looks like all of California is burning. I had to quit looking when they got to animal rescues... or not. The zoo near Griffith Observatory? Where do you take that many animals, and what place is safe? [crying emoticon]

Keep cool, Sidd and Bob,

Paz

It must be terribly scary for those who are affected by those fires. :(

It is very very scary for everyone including animals.

here do you take that many animals, and what place is safe?

One of the really cool initiatives I have seen is that the local news channels partner with the pet rescue centers and have a program called "Clear the Cages" where they offer free adoptions for all pets so that people will come and adopt one of the animals rescued that they cannot find the owner.

We just need some rain please..

>> animals too

Most of the people are not locked up. They at least have a chance to escape. Turns out that during the last hurricane, the staff ran and left the elderly in a nursing home. Perhaps a prison too. Some times it can be hard to know which rumors are true and which are not.

I'd send you and all of California some rain if I could, Sidd.

Thanks Pazz. The fires continue to burn and the air quality has been unsafe for the last couple of weeks. There is no such thing as a blue sky at all.

The silver lining is that we seem to have a pretty outstanding fire response teams that are doing some truly heroic work out there.
