November Sunrise

Talk about the advent of Drone photography and video.

November Sunrise

Postby sidd finch » Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:58 am

November and December is one of the best times of year to get some really magnificent sunrise and sunset video. Being able to get aerial footage of the sunrise continues to be a thrill.

Beautiful sky Sidd. I've been waiting 11 months to have cooler weather with low humidity again so I can try to record some all night time lapse video without dew forming all over my cameras.

Red sky at night ... Sailors delight,
Red sky in the morning ... Sailors take warning !

Did it end up being a 'nasty' day ? :-)

That is like, unreal. It's like having your own helicopter. The flock of birds showed up at the right time to give it a nice touch. And I remember that sunset.

Steve is right, this could easily be a movie opening :) Love the music, Oklahoma is a favorite musical of mine. Actually any musical with Shirley Jones is a favorite musical of mine.

Thank you for the kind words.

It was the sunrise and I was just about to head out to work. I looked outside and from the ground the whole sky was that golden orange. So I raced inside and grabbed that little drone and headed over to a good spot to fly and captured the video. I did not even see the birds until I was editing. And Yes I think that would make for a really cool opening of a movie. I might incorporate it into one some day.

In the past I have tried to capture the sunrise using a long pole with a camera but this shot just blew me away because you can see the whole valley looking east. I think this was my best drone shot yet. I even switched over to still image (12-megapixel) and put together the following panorama in photoshop.

And the day overall was great.

Beautiful Sidd! Did you see the November moon around that time? I tried to get a good shot, but failed.

I saw the moon but did not quite get it together in time to capture any images. It might be cool to see if I can get an airborne shot the next time we have a decent moon.
