Importer Reported a Generic Error

Postby MaryAnne » Sat Jan 25, 2020 4:07 pm

Hey Steve,

Starting new thread on this topic. I am currently using PRE version 15 on Windows 10.

The music files I was trying to use with my videos were generally from my own purchased library which I ripped off cds to put on my computer. Occasionally, I have used Itunes download. So I did a little experiment - yes my downloads that are mp3 (Muvipix and Audiobooks) do work.

So is there a solution? I am working on another memorial program and the person was a Frank Sinatra "MY Way" kinda guy. Only one song will do. I don't think my singing it would be quite the same :-

BTW - Happy Anniversary as I see I have been a member 10 years! Best money spent! =D>

Your iTunes files need to be converted. This is done by burning to a CD then importing the CD..

Are your ripped audio files MP3s or WAVs?

Open one of them free download MediaInfo. Set MediaInfo's View menu to Text and then copy the report that is generated paste it to this forum. Once we see the specs of the file we'll better be able to help you. It could be that the software you're using to rip your CDs to MP3 is creating files that are incompatible.

Another thing you may want to try to converting the MP3s to WAVs and see if that makes a difference in how Premiere Elements handles them. Try it with one song using the free download Audacity.

The iTunes issue has already been addressed by Sidd. That's a whole other issue.

But I'm getting the idea your problem is limited to these MP3s and iTunes files. Other WAVs on your computer load into a project just fine.
