Somehow your video transition default duration got changed. There are 30 fps (NTSC) so there's your 36 second transition: 1100/30 = 36.7. Change that number to 30 frames (one second), which would be the default and what most people use, and re-do your transition on that clip.

Yep! You guys definitely honed-in on my fading problem and solved it! My fps is now correctly set for 30 rather than the whopping 1100 fps, and I'm good to go.
