Using Adobe for Sound Recordings for Podcasts

Postby DonnaD » Tue Dec 06, 2016 12:11 pm

Hello Everyone, I am a newbie to making videos and Adobe and this website. Steve, I bought your book right away and it is awesome. I have a quick question. Along with making videos for my new business, I will also be making just sound recordings for podcasts. May I use Adobe Premiere Elements 15 to make just sound recordings, such as my voice and music in the background?
Would I just use two timelines for sound? Since I will not be downloading any video media to edit, I am uncertain if I can use Adobe just for a sound recording. Please advise.

I did download Audacity, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet.

Thanks Steve. You are serving our community very well.

Hi, Donna. Welcome to Muvipix and thanks for supporting our books!

You can certainly record and output podcasts from Premiere Elements, just as you've described. But programs like Audacity (as well as Adobe Audition and Sony Sound Forge) are dedicated audio editors, and may provide additional functions for processing, sweetening and enhancing your audio. But, if you just want to record and mix audio sources, Premiere Elements will do just fine.
