I think you'll want this. Demo codecs, transcoder, codec information application all in one. "MainConcept's new Encoder application which combines all popular codecs and renowned formats listed below" http://www.mainconcept.com/site/consume ... cts-4.html

Thanks, I will take a closer look... after a quick look seems the codecs are not cheap if you decide to buy them.. $590 for the "home" H264 codec for AVCHD, $2400 for the "Pro" version... think I'll stay with the "home" version

Hey Paul, the MC Elements codec description says it is only for PrEl v2. And it says it suppports AVCHD. I don't recall ever hearing that mentioned here on this forum. Can you verify that?

Hi Ken, are you refering to the MainConcept MPEG Elements plugin? It also works in PE3, says so in System Requirements. Regarding AVCHD... it says it supports H.264... not specifically AVCHD (I cant find it anyway). I have used it in the past to edit AVCHD, reported here in Muvipix somewhere. It is very slow and clunky with AVCHD, not recommended. If you are thinking of going high definition I would stay with HDV.. like the HV20 captures in. The HDV MPEG2 edits much more smoothly than AVCHD in PE3. I have both formats... I try to keep the AVCHD to simple cuts. With HDV it is fairly smooth editing and excellent quality, better than AVCHD.

Yeah Paul, I clicked on the OP link above and then clicked on the 'Shop' icon for the MPEG Elements plugin for Adobe Elements. This is the page I got: http://esd.element5.com/product.html?cart=1&productid=300073649&languageid=1&stylefrom=503292&backlink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mainconcept.com%2Fsite%2Findex.php%3Fid%3D4&cookies=1In the description for MainConcept MPEG Elements are these: MainConcept MPEG Elements plug-in is a full-featured MPEG editing solution for Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0.
and: MPEG Elements offers H.264/AVC import, and again: MainConcept MPEG Elements can only be used with Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 (not included).
It is hard to tell what is true, that's why I asked. Thanks for your info.
