Dreamy Causes Premiere 14 to Freeze ?

Postby John Walker » Wed Oct 24, 2018 9:06 am

Hi,

Not sure if this has been reported before.

In the Effects Tab, as soon as I select 'Dreamy' in the Hollywood Looks section, Premiere Freezes. I'm sure I've used 'Dreamy' before without a problem.

Other effects seem ok so far but I haven't tried many.

Did you disable hardware acceleration (go to Premiere Elements' Preferences (under the Edit menu) and UNCHECK the option to use graphics acceleration)?

Did you ensure you've got the latest drivers for your system by going to either your computer manufacturer's support site. I am not sure if Windows 10 will give you the most updated drivers.

Thanks Sidd

Yes Hardware Acceleration is disabled. As far as I can tell all drivers are up to date.

It just seems strange that only one of the effects cause this problem. I've tried a quite a number of them overnight and no problems but as soon as I click on 'Dreamy' (The one I wanted for a particular clip) Premiere freezes.

Regards

Depending on the length of the clip you are placing the effect on you might be overwhelming the system. Adding effects and or key-framing to large clips taxes the system and could cause is to stop. Ho long is the clip that you are placing the effect on?

Hi Sidd

The clip is 6 seconds. However, it freezes the program as soon as as click on the Dreamy effect. I don't get chance to drag it on to the clip.

I've just tried a new project with just one short clip. Prem 14 freezes just the same on that as soon as I click on the dreamy effect. All other Hollywood effects work perfectly.

I'm after an effect that puts a feathered white border on to the clip. I can't find another effect that might do that.

Any suggestions appreciated

John
