Create transparent background

Postby mikecox » Tue Oct 31, 2017 3:25 pm

I have several small images on the video 2 track that I want to lay over the video 1 track but they completely cover the Video 1 images because the background is not transparent. How do I make it transparent?

The easiest way is to open the pictures in photoshop and use the magic erase tool to remove the background then save as a PSD file. Import the PSD file in Premiere.

As Sidd says, your text needs to be on a layer in Photoshop Elements with no background layer. If you do this, when you save the file as a PSD, it will be saved as text without background.

FWIW, we show you how to do this step by step in our "Muvipix.com Guide to Photoshop Elements."

Thanks Sidd. That solved the problem. It never occurred to me to try loading psd files into PrE.

Ps Elements or Pr Elements? I've watched most of your great videos on Lynda.

Well, you prepare the graphic in Photoshop Elements, which is why it's in the Photoshop Elements book.

We've also got a tutorial showing the basics.
