DVD works on PC but not on DVD Player

Postby tpayres » Mon Mar 13, 2017 3:30 pm

Hi I am new to this forum as I have just recently begun to use PE 14 to create movies, i.e. add sound, titles etc., to some 8mm films that I had converted to video by iMemories. I have gone through Steve's course "Up and Running with PE 14" on Lynda.com (several times) and it has been a great help. I completed my first movie and saved it to a DVD, (Memorex DVD+RW). All went fine and the DVD plays on my PC but when I put it in my DVD Player (JVC SV-S60 DVD/CD Player) the Player does not recognize that the DVD is in the Player. The DVD's are several years old but have never been used before and since they work in my PC I doubt they are the problem. The DVD Player works fine with commercially purchased DVDs.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to muvipix, Tom.

Ensure you "finalize" the DVD-RW. This should be part of the burn process with the DVD-RW (haven't done this in years, so I hope the terms/process is still applicable).

DVD-RWs can also give DVD players fits, so your experience isn't surprising, Tom. Most disc players can handle DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs -- but RWs are a whole different animal.

OK once the Blizzard is over here in NJ I will go out and get some DVD-Rs and see if that is the fix.

Thank you, I will let you know.

Go for Verbatim or Taio Yuden (sp?) DVDs. They seem to be the most reliable brand(s).

OK I bought DVD+R and the process worked just fine in the PC and on the DVD Player. Thank you for your help.
