Resizing photos for Premiere 14

Postby Memes » Sat Mar 05, 2016 1:22 pm

I imported an iMovie (1280 x 720) into Premiere Elements 14 and need to add some photos to it. How do I resize the photos?

You can batch resize a whole folder of photos at once with Photoshop Elements by using File/Process Multiple Files. To optimize your photos for video, check Resize Images and set the Width to 2000 pixels and leave the Constrain Propertions option checked. (No need to set Height if Constrain is checked.) At the top of this panel select Folder to resize a folder of photos or Import to select the photos, then browse the Source option to select your pictures. If you set a Destination, you resized photos will be saved to this location and your originals will remain at full rez.

You can also manually resize individual photos by going to Photoshop Elements' Image menu and select Resize Image.

FWIW, we show you, with illustrations, how to do both of these processes, step by step, in our "Muvipix.com Guide to Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements", available on Amazon and at the Muvipix store.

Steve, thank you for your help. I am planning on buying the book. In the mean time, I tried to resize one photo. I am still getting about 1/2 inch of black on either side of the picture. I do have a MAC, does that make a difference?

Thanks!

No. The process is the same no matter what your OS.

What do you mean you are getting a black border?

You will see black on either side of the photo in your video frame because your project is 1280x720 (16:9) and you photos are 4:3.

You can make the photo larger so it will fill the frame from side to side -- but then you will lose some of the pictures top and bottom.

Which would you rather have: Black along the sides of the photo or part of the top and/or bottom of the photo cut off?

Are you saying we answered your question?

Remember your choice is either black on either side or a photo that fills your video frame but loses some of its top and/or bottom.
