My Intel Core i5 3.5 Ghz Topping Out During Render

Postby John Walker » Fri Jan 29, 2016 6:07 pm

More a matter of interest than anything but thought I would mention it in case it shouldn't be doing it.

I bought the highest spec CPU that I could afford when building my PC and I think I have BIOS settings correct.

Out of interest, I was checking on Task Manager while PRE 14 was carrying out a render of a complete project.

I was most surprised to see that all 4 CPU cores were right up to max throughout the whole render.
Memory use was minimal but there is 16 Gb to hand.

I presume this is normal but any thoughts?

Cheers
John

Yes. It's actually a good thing that it's using almost all of your cpu resources. The only concern would be if you had inadequate cooling.
How is the performance in general?

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Rendering is one of the few things that will make my CPU fan wind out to full speed. Normally I can't hear my system fans at all, but then it sounds like a jet plane turbine. :)

Thanks for all replies. Puts my mind at rest.

My PC is fitted with the standard Intel CPU cooler fan plus three large case fans.

I don't hear any fans speed up during a render so checked the CPU temp. Sits at 44 Degrees throughout a big render so I guess all is well as you have all indicated.

Cheers :tx:
