Pompeii - Walking Tour

Postby sidd finch » Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:46 am

While extremely long I thought this was a really cool video. A guy with a GoPro on a stabilized gimbal takes an extended walking tour of the ruins in Pompeii. Having always wanted to go there this offers a unique perspective of what the city looks like now. I thought it was really fascinating. Either that or lockdown is playing tricks on my attention span.

The tour guide gives an intro and ho to navigate the video. Enjoy

Very cool video! Though I have to admit I didn't have the patience to watch the entire thing...

Being that my attention span is about 10 to 15 minutes I think I'll watch this in 21 to 31 segments over the next 10 to 12 years :) .
I'm a little busy trying to fit this in between naps ;) .
But seriously, skipping through, it does look pretty interesting. I wonder what kind of difference you get using the GoPro on a gimbal as opposed to just a grip. I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen of the GoPro's built-in stabilization.

I agree it is really really long and I did not watch the whole thing but just to get a 1-1 perspective to me was really cool.

I think the GoPro 9 stabilization is just as good as a g gimbal. The only issue is that when you start tilting at a 45 degree the sensor crops the view to maintain the level. But if you are just walking around then it should be no issue. But I find myself using the gimbal and the GoPro 9 stabilization together. I like that you can do the pan smoothly with the gimbal.

Impressive filming! Impressive place too. I did skip around and will bookmark to take a walk here and there. Like Dave said in 25 segments between naps.
