Interesting Kickstarter battery project

Postby sidd finch » Wed Dec 07, 2016 9:04 pm

I am interested in the Hero 5 session but not to thrilled that the battery is not removable. I saw this cool kickstarter project for an add on battery. Kind of makes the camera less small but still an interesting idea to add extra power. Looks like the camera would still be pretty small.

I don't like things that have non-removable batteries either. Like my tablet. A rep from the company said when it will no longer take a charge I can send it to them and they can fix that. Guess someday I'll find out!

Sidd,

Did you hear about the gizmo that lets you talk to your GoPro?

I won't buy rechargeable mouses for the same reason. I had a great Logitech mouse once that I had to throw away because the battery died. Logitech won't replace them.

It broke may heart when I bought a nice camera from Radio Shack only to find a few years later that the battery wasn't replaceable. :(

The same thing happened to my old Windows 3.11 for Workgroups computer with the 386 processor. I can' no longer read my 5 1/4 floppies.

I saw some tear down pictures of the session and the battery is buried so far inside that they had to disassemble the entire camera just to get the battery out. It was soldered and glued to the motherboard.
