Miami Flyover

Postby Chuck Engels » Mon Apr 25, 2016 3:25 pm

Got to test out the GoPro again last Friday. I've made this flight about 20 times in the past 2 years but the takeoff over downtown Miami is always an awesome sight.

:TU: Enjoyed it Chuck! It's cool to see the vapor coming off of the wing. Wouldn't it be great to be in the cockpit on takeoff?

Would love to be in the cockpit for takeoff but I would probably be so excited that I would forget to shoot video ...

When I got that audio I still had the lens cap on the GoPro, I almost deleted the clip :-8

Looks like slow motion, especially when the plane turns on the taxiway and when passing the clouds.

No slow motion, all realtime video :)

That was cool Chuck. The video looked good. Those little sessions produce some pretty nice video for as small as they are. I have been thinking that the next time I fly I have a really small suction cup mount that I am going to see if I can attach to the window and try and capture some footage. I think I have a take off and landing in Atlanta from last summer I should try and dig up and post.

Those little cameras are infectious lol :)

Don't you love happy accidents? The little cam does a great job with the color & focus. The shots were steady. Did you do anything special to keep the camera steady?

Thanks Cheryl :)

I had the GoPro on a telescoping monopod resting against the window. The takeoff was very steady so that helped a lot.

Very good footage Chuck. I loved the way the flight attendant's "speech" was faded out and the music started.
Unfortunately these days since 9/11, the flight deck is a no no for visitors. A real shame.
If you are faced with a forced landing at night, switch on the landing lights, if you don't like what you see, switch them back off.
