Spring time and what a great time to catch a nesting Hummingbird

That is incredible Sidd. I so wish I would find a nesting Hummingbird. How close did you mount your GoPro?

Thank you for the kind words.

Well not officially but Mother Nature seems to think otherwise.

How close did you mount your GoPro?

I was about 3 inches away with a macro lens attached. The bird was quite agitated (rightly so) when I set the camera up. She stayed in a tree and was making a non stop clicking sound so I tried to be quick setting the camera up. I then went in the garage and waited for almost 20 minutes for her to return to her nest. I turned off the camera beep and light so it would not add to her irritation then just sat back and waited. The remote app worked really well staying out of sight.

Wow Sidd this is wonderful macro video work! Super up close & personal. I can see why she was agitated with you getting so close to her nest. Looks like you can't take the Christmas lights down for awhile. ::CLAP: ::CLAP: ::CLAP:

What a weird place to build a nest! How many eggs did she lay, just one or two? I can't really imaging how tiny they must be. We have so many Hummingbirds, but I was never able to find a nest. What a great opportunity.
You are lucky she did not attack you, they can be quite vicious. Great work Sidd! =D> :TU:

Welcome to California where it is not beyond normal to leave Christmas lights up all year... :conf: Some folks even turn them on in the evening too.....

How many eggs did she lay, just one or two?

Based on the research I did they typically lay two eggs. I was not able to get the camera positioned to look inside the nest. I was trying really hard to be close but not touch. The eve of the garage was just tall enough to get the camera set up and in position. I think next time I might just get a ladder to see if I can peer down into the nest to check for eggs.

Not sure if you can see if from the video but the nest is built where the two plugs from the lights meet. That gives you an idea of the size. Very very small.

I pretty much thought I was done capturing Hummingbird video until I saw this nest and realized there was one more video to try and capture. That is unless I see the baby Hummingbird and I try to capture that as well.

Wow! Wow, wow, wow, awesome, wow! :yh:

A hummingbird nest right under the eaves of your house!!! How lucky can you get, Sidd???

That macro lens you have for your GoPro must be the best one ever made. The clarity is marvelous.

Can't wait to see the babies leave... I understand they don't leave the nest until they are fully grown. When you consider how tiny they are, that may not take too long.

Congrats on another coup, Sidd!
