New Bird Feeder

I received an new higher capacity bird feeder so that was a good excuse to see if I could capture some 240 fps footage of our Anna's Hummingbird. This was shot with just the camera and NO macro lens.

Wow a whopping bird feeder! Looks like maybe a 10 litre? Very nice work and perfect music choice. FWIW picked up a hummer feeder today.

Thank you everyone. I really like the way the new hero's do color it seems more of what I am used to seeing in my regular camcorder. the setting for 240 fps seems like it magnifies the image. It almost feels like I had a lenses. I think the Anna's Hummingbirds are so beautiful with the colored head.

Mom the feeder holds almost 2.5 cups of sugar water. With the drought here I have noticed that they seem to be relying on the feeder so I am happy to help out. I did noticed that the few times that it rained the feeder levels did not go down as fast. I hope that this means that they are depending on more natural sources for food too. The old feeder was plastic and the red color had completely faded from the sun so this one is red glass.



BTW Steve I used a suction mount to affix the camera to a window to try and get it as close to the feeder as possible.

Love the video, Sidd. 240 fps - I'm envious. The feeder is really cool too.

I did noticed that the few times that it rained the feeder levels did not go down as fast.

I see that with my feeders too. I think there is some water coming into the feeder. I noticed that the birds don't drink as much after the rain and I have to change the nectar because it is not sweet enough anymore.

Very very nice - as we've come to expect from you!! Makes me want to use my GoPro again (it hasn't seen any action since my son submerged it in Hawaii a few weeks after I came back from Alaska - that's almost 10 months ago!) My life must be pretty boring if i can't find a use for it!

Actually, i looked out my window today and thought i saw a dragonfly buzzing around a bush - turns out it was a green hummer!!!!! No time to get my camera out (and the batteries probably needed charging!) before it flew away...and it was probably too far away to get any kind of shot anyway.

Guess i'll just sit back and enjoy your videos!! THANKS! Keep 'em coming!

Loved the video Sidd, also a very bug fan of hummingbirds, and like Steve said Great Music too We are doing some back yard and deck work so I can't have anything set up this year. Also, with all of the travel to Miami in the past year I don't have the time to change their food as often as necessary. Maybe next year I can get back to feeding the birdies

How close to the bird was the camera?

Did you shoot with two cameras at once?

Was the camera on the inside of the house or outside the window?

Beautiful little bird. We only have Rufous hummers here. I tend to think of them being in this area in the autumn, but did see a hummer out earlier this spring. I filled the feeder for it but Mr. B moved the feeder when he needed the ladder and I confess, I haven't thought about it again. I'm ready to go out and see if I can find it. You inspire me.

I am in Miami all week so no getting my bird feeders up at home yet. But I do get to go to Marlin's Park to watch baseball
