GoPro Hero 3 Black vs GoPro Hero 4 Black

Postby sidd finch » Sun Nov 16, 2014 6:46 pm

I have been on the fence about getting the new Hero 4. Some of the reviews have said that the main selling point is the 4K. Since I have not really upgraded my editing system to edit on 4k I wondered if there was any difference between the 3 black and the 4 black in terms of their 1080P capabilities. I am not sure if the 3 black color is too warm but I always feel like they skew a bit yellowish. This is a pretty good side by side comparison.

I think the 1080p options are fairly similar, but I believe the 4 has the wider-angle lens. I will also point out that I do not believe the 4 has ANY 720 options at all, while the 3 will give you 120fps @ 720p.

CORRECTION: The 4 Black will give you 120fps @ 1080p while the 3 Black will only do up to 60fps. The 720p options I mentioned were correct. It's disappointing the 4 Black didn't come with 240fps @ 720p. That coulda been neat.
