GoPro with 2 Macro Lens attachments

Postby sidd finch » Wed Jan 22, 2014 6:13 pm

Quite by accident I discovered that the Macro Lens that I am using can accept multiple lenses. So only having 2 lenses I put them together to see what it would look like with my GoPro. It was a bit chilly this morning so when I went out to see if the ants were out yet I noticed that they just seemed to be waking up and moving slowly. Good thing because the area of focus is about 1 square inch. I felt like a jeweler inspecting stones.

I think it looks great! Great clarity and focus. Those ants do a lot of grooming in the morning.
Is that on manual focus or auto focus?
Thanks
Richard

Wow! Incredible. I had to call the wife in to see this. It's best to see the single lens vid first, then go to the double. Very cool.
We were amazed at how translucent their bodies were. And I think I really did see that one trimming his toenails. :)

Incredible is correct! Wow, Sidd! You have taken macro to the next level. Liked the title graphic too. :TU:

The camera is on auto-focus but I am manually positioning the camera to get the subject matter into focus.

I agree up close I did not realize how translucent they were in including their toe nails. I do not know much about ants but I always thought that they all went back to the nest at night. These seemed like they were either out all night or got up early to catch the morning sun..

I cannot wait for spring so that I can see what insects I can videotape. Since the camera can do 120 fps I am hoping to catch some bumble bees in slow motion.

Sidd,

WOWZERS! This is outstanding! Excellent! COOL! Remarkable!

Who knew ant abdomens were translucent???

So, which closeup lenses are you using and how are you holding them in place? More super glue?

Can't wait to see your slow motion bee footage! What a treat that will be!

Thank you Paz, I am using a 25mm to 37mm lens adaptor ring that fits over the barrel of the lens. I then screw in the macro lens to the lens adaptor.
