Go Pro?

Postby Steve Grisetti » Mon Jul 01, 2013 1:26 pm

Does anybody have any Go Pro Hero2 or Hero3 footage I could experiment with?

It doesn't matter what it's footage of and it needn't be very long. I'd just like to play with it and see what kind of results I get.

We can arrange a Dropbox thing if that's easiest. Like I say, it doesn't need to be very long.

Thanks.

Steve, if someone here doesn't reply with some footage, try the Go Pro forums.

I went to their site, and was impressed with what it will apparently do. I wonder if you can use an SD card, or does it have to be proprietary? The footage was pretty impressive, but then I always consider "The salesman said" theory before buying. And again, I may not be ready for this yet.

Now you see why I'm interested, eh, Buddy?

From what I can see, the cams use a standard micro SD card. But maybe Gerlinde or another user can confirm that.

I do. And I have a suggestion..go to GoPro/support, let them know you're highly interested. I'll bet they'd be happy to send you some footage. If you wanted to buy something from me I'd be falling all over myself to cooperate.

PS: I just requested some footage from them. If they oblige I will send it to you.

I have a GoPro Hero2 HD camera and it works great. You can take stills or shoot video with it. Video resolutions and frame widths are adjustable. It uses an SD card. I have edited the footage in PRE10 with no problem.

I can supply you with footage if you still need it.
Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.
Laptop: MacBook Pro (retina), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5.
Cameras (in use): Panasonic GH4/Canon HFR400/Canon HV30, GoPro HD Hero2.

Thanks, Ron! I'll let you know.

I'd also like to know if you've got some sort of custom workflow for editing the footage (like using CineForm Studio) or if you're able to use the video files directly in a program like Premiere Elements or Vegas.

I'm not exactly sure from what model GoPro camera my footage comes from. I probably can find out if you need to know. I had no problem to import the videos into PRE 11, Magix MEP 2013, Pinnacle Studio 16. In PRE you get a yellow line above the timeline, depending on the power of your computer you may have to render to get a good preview. I used the footage mainly to test Muvee Turbo Stabilizer because there is a lot of shaking going on :-D . The footage is about an offroading trip my son took with his home build buggy. Here are the specifics for the video:
